The truth is that DW is a profession deisgn tool for computer buffs who adore looking at code.
That's not entirely true. You can use Design View for a lot of stuff. But unless you understand the core concepts of HTML and it's relationship with CSS, you can get yourself into a whole heap of trouble in a hurry. Good web sites are more about the skills of the developer than the tools they use.
I had to start with DW because my site is so large no other program could deal (I don't think) with all the stuff I required.
Like what for example? You can do a lot in Muse. It might be all you need to build a static web site of however many pages you require. MU just can't handle advanced database driven tasks like blogs, CMSs, shopping carts, etc...
