Fine for you, but I will not try to answer any question to you about CP8 anymore. If you would be aware about the lost hours on this forum because everyone is inventing his own terminology and trying to answer correctly I have to find out what is meant by this terminology, you should understand. Certainly now, with a UI that is totally different in 8 from 5-7, I give up doing that. In the Windows menu, I have a Timing Properties panel. Too bad that the confusion is now even growing: the second group in the Windows menu are panels, with the exception of Mobile Palette (palette is the old name used years ago for panels in Adobe applications) which is not really a panel, sorry. That is a dialog box, it cannot be docked in a workspace, it has not the look and functionality of a normal panel and thus doesn't fit in that second group of Windows menu. (and you are right, newbie edition of CP8 has no workspaces, that word should have disappeared). I am on Windows but you should have the panels as well in a Menu.

Here a screenshot of one of my workspaces. You'll see the Timing panel floating next to the Properties panel, which is docked with Library, Quiz panels. This is in Expert mode, this is what panels in all Adobe application are supposed to be used for, to put them where you need. I have also the panels Position and Swatches floating, but collapsed to their title bar. This setup allows me to avoid clicking all the time between the panels Properties and Timing. When I am busy with positioning in responsive projects, I'll open the Position panel.

That workflow of rearranging panels  is impossible with the 'Tabs', in this screenshot with 'Style' and 'Options'. Wished they were panels as well... but they are fixed for everyone, appear by the will of Captivate, not by the will of the developer
